SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist alum Taylor Hearn was recently recognized by Baseball America in its March 24 issue as a prospect that could have a big year.
Â
The publication listed Hearn as the Pittsburgh Pirates' "Breakout Candidate."
Â
"Lefthander Taylor Hearn, acquired in the Mark Melancon trade, was drafted four time – including once by the Pirates in 2012. They wanted him again because of his electric left arm, which has helped him flash 99 mph velocity. He'll try to get out Class A ball for the first time in 2017," according to Baseball America.
Â
In his only season with OBU, Hearn compiled a perfect 9-0 record with an earned run average of 3.50 in 2015. He struck out 71 batters in 64.1 innings pitched and opponents hit just .191 against him that year.
