Lady Bison Whip Ouachita

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist wasted no time starting the Great American Conference season the right way, dispatching Ouachita Baptist 9-0 Friday.
 
Alex Morales was in shutout mode all day, getting an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles with partner Alex Bowers and then blanking Samantha Boyd in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
 
Bowers surrendered just one game in taking No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
 
All three doubles matches were over in eight games with Rouxanne Janse van Rensburg and Kim Moosbacher winning at No. 1 and Olivia Charvat and Madeleine Boepple taking No. 2.
 
Like Bowers, Charvat and Moosbacher allowed just one win to their singles opponents at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.
 
Janse van Rensburg won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 singles over Mallory Tabler.
 
Boepple won by default at No. 4 singles.
 
Now 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the GAC, the Lady Bison travel to Orlando, Florida, for three matches next week, starting with No. 28 Indiana University of Pennsylvania Monday.
 
"Indiana University of Pennsylvania will be a tough match," said Lady Bison Coach Peter McCorkle. "They're underrated at No. 28."
