SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's indoor track and field begins the defense of their national championships Friday at the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

The men and women were both crowned champion at the meet in 2016, the first year of NCCAA competition for OBU.

All events at the 2017 meet will take place at the Kerr-Pegula Field House on the campus of Houghton College in Houghton, New York. Live results for the event are available

Both the Bison and Lady Bison will once again be well represented at the meet, as they met a combined 218 qualifying marks leading up to the national championship meet. The men met the standard a combined 88 times, while the women posted 130 qualifying marks.

This season, the men have recorded 20 top-10 marks in the NCCAA, including two top spots.
Spencer Lashley owns the top height in the pole vault at 4.66 meters for his performance at the Pittsburg State Invitational, and
Andrew Worley finished with an NCCAA season-high 4967 points in the heptathlon at the UCM Mule Relays.

OBU women posted 24 top-10 marks this season in the NCCAA, and also had two top marks.
Leah Molter ran the fastest time in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.68 at the Bob Timmons Challenge.
Lacey Herbert set the high watermark in the pentathlon at the UCM Mule Relays with 3104 points.

The meet kicks off with an opening ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, followed by field events scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. Friday will conclude with running events beginning at 5:20 p.m.

Saturday opens with men's combined events at 9 a.m., followed by field events at 10 a.m. The national championship will finish with running events, scheduled for an 11:45 a.m. start Saturday morning. A full schedule of events is available

The Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's track and field programs have a combined 15Â national championships while competing in the NAIA and NCCAA.
