SHAWNEE – CollegeSwimming.com has Oklahoma Baptist ranked 14
th in the latest NCAA Division II women's swimming computations.
Â
The CollegeSwimming.com ranking is based on actual performance and not on a board of coach votes. The lone flaw is that the ranking does not take into consideration injuries that happen after times are reported.
Â
"It's fairly accurate, but the reason I say we're over-rated is because we've got a lot of people injured who wouldn't be able to count those times in a meet today," said OBU Coach Sam Freas.
Â
The Lady Bison have a 615.20 ranking. Queens tops the list at 681.70. OBU is the top-ranked program from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and has a number of national top 10 performances this season.
Â
Victoria Fonville (23.33) and Tamlyn Price (23.37) are Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, in the 50 free. Fonville also is third in the 100 free at 51.46.
Celina Marquez is second in the 200 backstroke at 2:03.26 and seventh in the 100 backstroke at 57.55. She also is 10
th in the 100 butterfly at 57.33.
Â
Juliana Cifuentes is seventh in the 200 individual medley at 2:07.58.
Â
In the relays, OBU is No. 8 in the 400 free at 3:31.64 and No. 9 in the 400 medley relay at 3:56.21.
