Watson Named Offensive Player of the Week

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist redshirt freshman Mikayla Watson is the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday afternoon.

Watson, a Whitesboro, Texas native, helped the Lady Bison to a 2-1 record for the week, averaging 4.23 kills per set on a .244 hitting percentage while also adding 4.62 digs per set. She picked up a double-double in all three matches, running her season total to 16. Her 23 kills against East Central were the most for any OBU player this year, and the .438 hitting percentage against Fort Hays State was the third time for Watson to eclipse the .400 mark this season.

Watson becomes the third Lady Bison player to receive recognition from the GAC this season, and the second to win the offensive award this season, joining Nicole Fleitman on Sept. 25. Cadyn Laing was named Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 9.
