SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist heads to Ada to face East Central in the Kerr Activities Center on Thursday at 7 p.m. for the lone Great American Conference contest of the week.

The Lady Bison (13-11, 8-3 GAC) dropped two matches last week to the top two teams in the conference, falling to then-No. 14 Arkansas Tech and Harding. OBU is now firmly in third place with a full game lead over Northwestern Oklahoma State with only five conference matches remaining.

In the first meeting between the teams this season at the Noble Complex, the Lady Bison swept the Tigers (7-19, 2-9 GAC) behind 14 kills from Mikayla Watson. OBU's defense limited ECU to a season-low negative-.075 hitting percentage while picking up seven blocks.

For the season, Watson leads the team with 2.97 kills per set as OBU averages 12.88 kills per set on .221 hitting percentage in GAC matches. The Lady Bison post 2.40 blocks per set, which ranks first in the conference and 13th in the NCAA. Sophia Couto and Cadyn Laing each have 99.0 blocks for the season and rank third and fourth, respectively, in the GAC for blocks per set. Suzanny Figueiredo paces the team with 4.55 digs per set while freshman Kelsi Chavez has averaged 4.03 digs per set. Hayden Blair assists at a rate of 8.73 per set.

East Central averages only 10.5 kills to go with a .114 attack percentage, both of which rank last in the GAC. Alex Campbell leads the way with 2.61 kills per set and Madeline Mayer is tops with 0.82 blocks per set. Taylor Turner and Sydney Dungen have split the setting duties this season, with Turner averaging 4.49 assists per set and Dungen providing 4.30. Lily Porsa ranks fifth in the conference with 5.12 digs per set.

Oklahoma Baptist owns a narrow 7-4 all-time advantage over East Central in a rivalry that dates back to 1975, the first season of competition for the Lady Bison volleyball program.
