SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist opens softball season next month as the ninth-ranked team in the Great American Conference, according to the conference coaches.

The poll released Tuesday slots the Lady Bison ninth after the team placed 10
th last season at 14-28 in the league and 17-35 overall.

OBU returns four starting position players and four pitchers from last year. The roster includes four seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and six freshmen.

Southern Arkansas, the defending league champion and only team OBU didn't record a win against, is ranked atop the poll. Arkansas Tech and Harding both received first-place-votes and are second and third respectively. Henderson State is fourth.

Southeastern Oklahoma State leads the middle grouping in fifth, followed by Arkansas-Monticello, East Central and Southern Nazarene.

Oklahoma Baptist is ninth, followed by Southwestern Oklahoma State, Ouachita Baptist and Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Lady Bison open the season Feb. 17 at home against Southwestern College (Kan.).
