Meet Right Side Hitter Katie Ray

SHAWNEE – Anna Howle announced her fourth commitment of the early signing period as Katie Ray inked her decision to join the Lady Bison Volleyball team.

Ray, a 6-0 right-side hitter, played under the direction of Coach Quinton Kraeer at Stillwater High School where she helped lead the Pioneers to a 15-14 record in Class 6A. A four-year letterwinner at Stillwater HS, she was named to the all-tournament team twice this season. Ray was also named the VYPE Female Athlete of the Month for October.

Last season, Ray earned Central Oklahoma Coaches' Association and all-conference second team laurels. Between her freshman and junior seasons, she was named to three all-tournament teams. Ray was also selected for the 2014 North Oklahoma All-VYPE team, and was the VYPEOK Fellowship of Christian Athletes featured player for October and November.

A heavily recruited student-athlete, Ray was recruited by Division I schools Wichita State, Stephen F. Austin and Nebraska-Omaha, as well as several Division II institutions.

"I love the size and feel of the campus," said Ray. "Christmas Chapel sealed the deal with the fun everyone had and the camaraderie between the students and faculty. To get to play the sport I love in a faith-based environment just makes it even better!"

Ray is also a member of the National Honor Society and BETA Club, and was an honorable mention selection at the Oklahoma State Scholastic Art Competition.
