SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's women's track and field team had a handful of athletes looking to improve their times and efforts with the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships looming in 12 days.
At the Arkansas Twilight on Friday, OBU had five NCAA qualifying marks. Two of those stood out.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Favour Okoye posted a time of 59.09. That's currently the ninth-best mark in the country.
Over in the 4x400 meter relay,
Trista Etheridge,
Bianca Gleim,
Asia Foster and Okoye clocked in at 3:40.38. With that finish, OBU's squad has the 11th-best mark in D2.
Also of note at Arkansas,
Mekenzie Lyda posted an NCAA qualifying mark in the 800 (2:08.46) while
Kiara Stallin did the same in the shot put (13.94m).
Then on Saturday,
Altyn Bartley went to Pitt State's Almost Last Chance Invite. In the hammer, her best throw was 54.82 meters which met NCAA standards.
On May 12, the NCAA selection committee will announce the teams and participants that will compete at Emporia State beginning on May 21.
