EMPORIA, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist's
Dwayne Fleming and his teammates
Caden Peevey,
Kobe Brown and
Gage Spencer were a part of two successful races on Thursday evening during the first day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Emporia State University.
In the 100-meter dash, Fleming was the top finisher in the second heat of that race. He posted a time of 10.40 which qualified him for Saturday's championship final. That mark was also the third-best time of the group of 22 that competed in that event.
Over in the 4x100, the four mentioned above clocked a 40.06 time. That was good for fifth place after two heats of competition.
Tomorrow, Fleming will take part in the 200-meter dash prelims while
Korban Murphy will do the same in the 800. Plus, OBU's 4x400 relay squad of Fleming, Brown, Peevey and
Ayo Toritsju will look to qualify for the championship finals in that race.
