RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Favour Okoye and
Altyn Bartley of Oklahoma Baptist University were named Great American Conference Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
For Okoye, she won the 400-meter hurdles during the OBU Invitational last weekend. Her time of 1:00.85 was best among a field of 16 participants, and it met NCAA outdoor qualifying standards. Okoye also ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay team.
Bartley's weekend was outstanding. She was victorious in the hammer throw with an NCAA qualifying mark of 54.79 meters. That effort broke OBU's previous record of 54.11 set two years ago by
Jade Byrd.
In addition to that performance, Bartley broke another school record in the shot put. She won that event with a heave of 14.84 meters, breaking Flora Dupans' mark of 14.62 set in 2024.
