SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team had several great marks over the weekend during its home invitational. Most notably,
Altyn Bartley broke two previous OBU outdoor records.
The Dallas native won the hammer throw with an NCAA qualifying mark of 54.79. That bested
Jade Byrd's previous high of 54.11 two seasons ago. Bartley then won the shot put with a heave of 14.84 meters. That, too, was a qualifying performance and topped Flora Dupans' 14.62 mark during the 2024 outdoor campaign.
OBU won eight more events after that. In the 4x400,
Favour Okoye,
Olivia Tate,
Diamond Lewis and
Brianna Jones crossed the finish line in 3:55.29.
For Okoye, she later won the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA qualifying time of 1:00.85. Lewis, too, won an individual event, the 100 hurdles, in 14.30.
To cap the Bison's track wins, Emory Lomon won the 200 (24.58) while
Asia Foster claimed first in the 800 (2:13.56). Plus, the 4x100 team of
Bianca Gleim, Tate, Lomon and Deja Rose won that race in 46.00, an NCAA provisional time.
In field events,
Tenera Grey was victorious in the triple jump, reaching 12.33 meters. That met NCAA outdoor standards. High jump specialist
Jamora Horace also won that event with a nation-leading 1.78 meter effort.
Also of note, Tate earned runner-up honors in the 100-meter dash (11.86) while Gleim finished in second in the 200 (24.91). Gleim also added a silver finish in the 400 (56.40) and
Jacey Hammon took second in the high jump. Furthermore, freshman
Kiara Stallin took registered a second-place mark in the shot put (13.83m).
This coming week, OBU takes part in the Texas Relays and David Suenram Gorilla Classic.
