SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist (15-13, 8-10 GAC) will travel to Southeastern Oklahoma State (19-11, 11-7 GAC) on March 27-28 for a three-game Great American Conference series. The opener is Friday at 2 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon. Below are notes on both teams.
For the Bison:
OBU enters the weekend hitting .350 as a team with 325 hits, 78 doubles, and 44 home runs, producing one of the league's most dangerous and efficient lineups. Over 28 games, the Bison carry a .592 slugging percentage and have out-slugged opponents .592 to .445.
In the heart of the order,
Tui Amosa leads OBU's power surge with a .421 average, 11 doubles, and 9 home runs, along with a .794 slugging percentage.
Matt Marsic remains the team's hottest bat statistically, hitting .444 with 32 hits, 4 doubles, 3 triples, and a team-best .545 on-base percentage.
Further down the lineup,
Braden Smith is batting .417 with 7 homers, while
Quinn Johnson is at .378 with 42 hits, 11 doubles, 4 home runs, and a .988 fielding percentage.
Keenan Morris also continues to pace the offense with a .394 average, totaling 39 hits, 8 doubles, and 23 RBIs.
On the mound,
Kody Bialas has been OBU's most effective starter, posting a 3.35 ERA with 41 strikeouts, limiting opposing hitters to a .210 average across 37.2 innings. Freshman left-hander
Teagon Standlee enters the weekend with a 2.45 ERA and a .196 opponent average in 14.2 innings. Both provide stability for a staff carrying a 7.47 ERA overall.
In the field, OBU holds a .949 team fielding percentage, anchored by
Zane Bennett, Johnson, and Smith, who all hold marks above .970.
For the Savage Storm:
Southeastern Oklahoma State comes into the series with one of the GAC's most balanced rosters, hitting .305 as a team with 299 hits, 50 doubles, and 56 home runs, while fielding at a strong .968 percentage. The Storm are 19-11 overall and 11-7 in conference play, holding an 8-2 record at home.
SOSU's offense is powered by Carter Olson, who leads the team at .362 with 38 hits, 11 home runs, and a .733 slugging percentage. JJ Bush adds a .352 average, 9 doubles, 11 homers, and 33 RBIs, while Isaac Villa contributes a .339 average, 8 doubles, 6 homers, and 14 stolen bases with flawless 1.000 fielding. Ryan Kirk further bolsters the lineup with a .319 average, 7 doubles, 11 home runs, and 34 RBIs.
On the pitching side, the Storm feature several shutdown bullpen arms statistically. Brock Zimmer has been virtually unhittable, allowing no earned runs and just 2 hits in 11.2 innings, holding opponents to .059 at the plate.
