VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Both Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's track and field teams earned national achievements during the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships this weekend at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
On the men's side, the 4x400 team of
Dwayne Fleming,
Kobe Brown,
Ayo Toritsju and
Caden Peevey earned First Team All-American accolades. That group took eighth place with a time of 3:11.08.
Individually for the men, Fleming placed 10th in the 200-meter dash, earning second-team accolades with a time of 21.26.
For the women, the 4x400 team comprised of
Bianca Gleim,
Favour Okoye,
Bella Driver and
Asia Foster also took eighth as they crossed the finish line in 3:43.61. That performance was also worthy of First Team All-American honors.
In the high jump,
Jamora Horace had the fourth-best finish in the nation, clearing 1.76m (5-9.24). That earned her first-team honors, her second career indoor All-American certificate.
A couple other achievements, Foster dialed up a 10th-place mark in the 400. That made her Second Team All-American while Tenera Gray became the first freshman in three years to make it to indoor championship meet. Gray took 13th in the triple jump, reaching 11.96m (39-3.0).
With the indoor season complete, the Bison will turn their attention to the outdoor competition field. Their first meet is the WashU Distance Carnival on March 26 in St. Louis, Mo.
