SHAWNEE – Throwing specialist
Altyn Bartley of Oklahoma Baptist University highlighted the women's team's efforts over the last two days as the squad competed at the Oklahoma Classic and Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Invite.
On Saturday, Bartley broke her own weight throw record in Missouri with a heave of 18.69m (61-4.00). That bested a 17.13m effort last season. Her throw on Saturday was an NCAA qualifying mark as well as a personal-best. It's also the 12th-best throw in D2 this season.
In another throwing event,
Kiara Stallin PR'd in the shot put reaching 13.41 meters (44.0). That was good for fourth place too.
Over in Norman, there were a couple other PRs for the Bison women.
Jacey Hammon's high jump effort (1.65m; 5-5.0) slotted her in fourth place and was her best career performance.
Olivia Tate delivered a PR in the prelims of the 60-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 7.62.
Rounding out OBU's best finishes at OU was
Kyndall Hicks' seventh-place mark in the 60 hurdles (9.19) and
Tenera Grey's eighth-place finish in the long jump (5.53m; 18-1.75).
Next weekend, the team will take part in Pitt State's Gorilla Classic.
