SHAWNEE – What kind of encore is coming for the 2026-27 version of Oklahoma Baptist University men's basketball? In three short days, a high-profile, early-season hoops tournament – the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic – will paint an initial picture of head coach
Jason Eaker's squad which is looking to return to the NCAA Division II Tournament and make another deep run like last spring.
In the 2025-26 campaign, OBU's men had the best D2 season of all-time. They went 31-4, won an incredible 18 games in a row, did not lose once inside the Noble Complex (13-0) and ended up advancing to the Final Four held in Pittsburgh, Pa. Along the way, they became the first Great American Conference men's basketball program to win a NCAA D2 Central Region Title.
There will be several key topics discussed throughout the year which include the departure of OBU's first-ever D2 All-American in
Terry Coner Jr., who left for D1 California Baptist. The Bison will also have to replace senior standouts
Joshua Udoumoh,
Jackson Greene and
Jose Waring.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly heading into this season, the return of several key contributors including 7-foot-2 junior
Erik Madrid, explosive guard
JC Curry and players
Christian Hodge and
Austin Coner who were vital pieces to last year's team.
The Voice of the Bison Todd Miller returns to call games on KGFF and the GAC Sports Network and will have the help of OBU's athletics communications staffers
Clayton Coffman,
Ryan Bower and
Rives Mitchell throughout the season.
Season tickets are available and can be found above. Be sure to catch all the action on the
GAC Sports Network as well.
