NEW ORLEANS – After a dominant showing at the Rogers State Distance After Dark meet two weeks ago, Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country finds itself receiving votes in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Top 25 poll of the season. The Bison, who are also ranked #6 in the Central Region, had four top-10 finishers in their first meet of the year on Sept. 3.
Emery Crayton (5th - 20:27.1),
Jonah Grein (8th - 20:33.1),
Brody Woodcock (9th - 20:35.0), and
Levi Haynes (10th - 20:38.3) led the way for OBU in the four-mile at season-opening meet. Oklahoma Baptist averaged 20:35.0 at the event, a whopping 15 seconds faster than runner-up Pittsburg State.
OBU is one of only two Great American Conference teams to appear in the national poll, as GAC rival East Central is ranked 25th. The next round of national polling will come next week on Wednesday, Sept. 23, while the next regional poll is set to be released on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Oklahoma Baptist is slated to run its next meet at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday, Sept. 26 in Stillwater.
