RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Terry Coner Jr. is now a three-time Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week selection after the league announced its weekly award-winners on Monday.
Overall, it's the fourth career honor for the junior guard from Birmingham, Ala.
In Oklahoma Baptist's dominating 84-61 win over 18th-ranked Southern Nazarene last week, the 6-foot guard scored a game-high 27 points on 62.5 percent shooting. He also made 3-of-6 from downtown and converted all four of his free throw attempts. Plus, he added four assists and did not commit a turnover.
Most staggering, Coner Jr. scored 19 first-half points against SNU who tallied 18 as a unit in the opening 20 minutes.
This season, Coner Jr. is second in the league in scoring (20.7), ninth in three-point field-goal percentage (38.6) and seventh in assists (3.5).
The 20th-ranked Bison, winners of six in a row, return to the court on Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. when they host Southern Arkansas. Earlier this season, SAU won by two, 80-78, in Magnolia.
