SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist junior guard
Terry Coner Jr. was named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 2026 Watch List on Thursday as announced by Small College Basketball.
He's one of only two Bison players in the Division II era (2016-present) to earn distinction on this list. The other was Burke Putnam during the 2021-22 campaign. Plus, Coner Jr. is the only Great American Conference player to be honored on this list.
The Clarence "Bevo" Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations are based on season statistics, individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements.
So far this winter, Coner Jr. has been one of the best, if not the best, GAC men's player. He is second in the league in scoring (19.9), free throws made (79) and field goals (88). The Birmingham, Ala., native is also fourth with a 3.5 assists per game average. Plus, he's slotted eighth in field-goal percentage (46.3).
With his help, the Bison have attained a 12-2 record, their best start in their D2 era, and are in second place in the GAC. Furthermore, he's helped OBU to as high a ranking at 15th by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
In the month of February, the top 50 players list will be announced.
