SHAWNEE – Bison Volleyball gears up for the 2025 season with a handful of new faces on the roster and a full schedule ahead.
Oklahoma Baptist Volleyball prepares for the upcoming season with a 28-game schedule and a wave of new additions to the 2025 roster.
This year's roster is made up of 28 athletes, 13 returners and 15 new faces. Of the 15 newcomers, 12 are freshmen and three are transfer students.
The roster of 28 has representatives from nine states including Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, California, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and South Carolina. Texas and Oklahoma have the largest representation on the team with nine girls from each state. Colorado has the third biggest presence with four athletes.
Amongst the 13 returners are several key contributors for the team in previous seasons.

Lauren Safrit,
Rylee Unruh,
Karsyn Hunter, and
Allie Stricker are returning for another season of action.
Of the 15 newcomers, the three transfers come in the form of two juniors and a sophomore.
Ady Horn joins OBU from Missouri Western. The Kansas City, MO, native will be entering her junior year.
Payton Sandefer is another transfer, coming to Bison Hill from Texas Woman's University. Sandefer is a sophomore from Haslet, TX.
Shelby Jabour is a junior form Mancos, CO. The defensive specialist comes to us from Graceland University.
To kickoff the 2025 season, the Bison will open action at the West Texas A&M Tournament. The run in Canyon, TX, will take place Sep. 5-6 with a pair of games for the green and gold each day. Friday will start with a 9 a.m. match against Colorado State Pueblo and the Bison will close out the day with a 3:30 p.m. game against Texas A&M International. The following day will begin with a 1 p.m. game against Western Colorado and the tournament finale will happen at 6 p.m. as OBU takes on the host, West Texas A&M.
The Bison will face Central Oklahoma in Edmond, OK, for a 6 p.m. midweek on Sept. 9.
Following the midweek meeting with UCO, the green and gold will make their way to Arcata, CA for the Cal Poly Humboldt Tournament. The Bison will start of going head-to-head with the host, Cal Poly Humboldt at 9 p.m. on Sep. 11. Game two will commence the following day at 4 p.m. against Dominican University of California. The final day of action will see a pair of games for the Bison facing Chico State a 11 a.m. and Jessup at 4 p.m.
The first GAC matchup will begin Sep. 16 when the Bison take on Southeastern at 6 p.m. in Durant, OK.
The weekend will see a trio of games on the slate for OBU at the GAC-MIAA Crossover. The green and gold will take on Emporia State in their first match of the weekend on Sep. 19 at 12:30 p.m. Following the first game of the day, the Bison will be back in action at 7 p.m. to face Newman. Saturday's schedule will see Oklahoma Baptist close out their tournament run against Fort Hays State at 12:30 p.m.
From there, the Bison will head to Southern Nazarene for another midweek GAC matchup at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, the green and gold will host Southwestern for the first conference match in Noble in the 2025 campaign. The meeting with SWOSU will start at 7 p.m., wrapping up the first full week of GAC play.
The Bison will hit the road again to face Northwestern on Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. Thursday's match will be in Shawnee against East Central at 6 p.m. on Oct. 2, where OBU will host a Pink Out game.
The next pair of games will put OBU on the road for a Friday afternoon meeting with Harding and a 1 p.m. head-to-head with Arkansas Tech the following day.
On Oct.16 and 17, the green and gold will make their way back to Shawnee to host Southern Arkansas on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Arkansas Monticello Friday at 4 p.m. The match against Southern Arkansas will also be Parents Appreciation Night.
OBU will make the trek to Arkadelphia for a Thursday matchup with Henderson State at 6 p.m. on Oct. 23, and a 5 p.m. game with Ouachita Baptist Friday evening, Oct. 24.
Oct. 30, the Bison will be back at home to host Southeastern at 7 p.m.
The following midweek will put OBU back on the road to Weatherford for a 6 p.m. meeting with SWOSU on Nov. 4. Southern Nazarene is next up for OBU with a 6 p.m. game time in Shawnee on Nov. 6.
Nov. 11 will serve as the final home game of the season as the Bison host Northwestern for a 6 p.m. start on Senior Night. The final game of the regular season will be at East Central on Nov. 13, at 6 p.m.
