RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist senior defensive back
Chase Whitebear was voted as the Great American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The honor, his second of his career, comes after the 6-foot-3 corner recorded eight tackles, a goal-line interception and recovered a fumble against Henderson State on Sept. 13.
It's the third time in his career that Whitebear was involved in a multiple-turnover game. In 2022, he had a forced fumble and recorded an interception against Northwestern Oklahoma State. A season later, Whitebear had a pick and fumble recovery versus Southeastern Oklahoma State.
This season, Whitebear is ranked fifth in the Great American Conference with 18 tackles and sixth with two passes defensed.
