SHAWNEE – Bison Volleyball landed a top three ranking in the GAC Preseason Poll.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, the Great American Conference released results for the 2025 Preseason Poll, seeing Oklahoma Baptist picked to finish third in the league.
The green and gold finished out the previous season with an appearance at the conference tournament that ended in a short run for the Bison. OBU took on Ouachita Baptist to get tournament play rolling, but ultimately the Bison fell to the Tigers, who went on to take the conference championship title.
After last years run, OUA takes the first spot in the Preseason Poll. Just above OBU sits Harding University, who finished the season as the runner up in tournament play. The Bison still remain amongst the top three in the Great American Conference.
'' Our team has set the bar high and the girls in our program are committed to empower each other to success. I believe we will continue to improve each day of practice and cannot wait to coach this group'', noted Head Coach
Anna Howle.
Last season saw the Bison total a 16-13 overall record with a 10-6 mark in conference play. During conference play, the green and gold saw a six-game winning streak, their longest of the season.
'' I am very excited about our upcoming season. We have a great group of upperclassmen that have grown in leadership and experience'', stated Howle.
This season OBU returns several key players from the previous season including setter,
Emily Boyer, outside hitter,
Lauren Safrit, and
Rylee Unruh, an outside hitter from Kansas.
Allie Stricker, middle, will also return for the Bison as well as
Karsyn Hunter, the libero and lone senior for the green and gold this season.
The green and gold will kick off the season with appearances in three tournaments prior to conference action. For a closer look at the 2025 schedule, click
