PUEBLO, Col. – Valerie Olson sits in third place after four events in the heptathlon during the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
That was among the highlights on Thursday as a handful of Bison women and men competed at the CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl.
Olson, a graduate student, PR'd among these three events in the heptathlon: 200-meter dash (23.56), 100 hurdles (13.92) and high jump (1.62m). Plus, her time in the 200 was the fastest multis mark ever in OBU's D2 history.
Also of note, senior standout
Sophia Strange earned Second Team All-American honors in the 10,000 when she crossed the finish line in 36:05.99. That was good for 12th place. Classmate
Anisha Henderson also garnered second-team honors during the long jump, reaching 5.92 meters (19-5.25). That slotted Henderson in 13th place.
Asia Foster also had a good night, qualifying for the finals in the 400-meter dash. Foster's 53.12 mark was not only a personal-best but was the eighth-best time in the prelims. The junior will partake in the finals of the race Saturday at 7:20 p.m.
On the men's side, senior
Sean Dixon posted the best time of the 400-meter hurdles prelims event. The Jacksonville, Fla., native clocked a 50.14, which is a PR. He'll compete in the finals of the race on Saturday at 8:35 p.m. During long jump competition,
