SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist senior
Sean Dixon had a standout effort in the 400-meter hurdles during the three-day Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
Over the weekend, Dixon clocked in at 50.88 which was good for first place. That personal-best mark was also the No. 2 performance in all of the Division II outdoor season too.
Teammate
Jentezen Smith also fared well in the 400 hurdles with a PR and NCAA provisional time of 52.31. That slotted the senior in fifth place overall.
In field events, graduate student
Evan Olson had the top performance in the javelin throw. He attained a provisional mark of 62.68 meters. Also of note,
Carson Kardokus PR'd in both the 800 (1:52.22) and 1500 (3:49.89).
OBU also competed at the Pittsburg State Tune-Up last week.
Isaiah Willis had the best overall effort during the long jump. He met NCAA standards with a jump of 7.33 meters. That was good for third place.
There was another third-place mark delivered by freshman
Quintin Richardson. He PR'd in the high jump, reaching 2.00m.
In running events, Willis placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 21.34. Plus,
Kahmai Flowers PR'd in the 400, crossing the finish line in 49.75. Freshman Maddox Mottley also delivered a season-best in the 110 hurdles (15.34). Mottley also PR'd in the long jump (6.69).
Rounding out the Bison's top efforts at Pitt State, freshman
Zavier Freeman earned seventh in the shot put (15.33m) while
Matthew Werschem took eighth in the hammer throw (51.63m).
Next on the schedule for OBU is the John McDonnell Invite in Fayetteville, Arkansas on April 25.
