SHAWNEE – Weekend competition for Oklahoma Baptist's men's track and field team took place at the KT Woodman Classic hosted by Wichita State as well as the Arkansas Razorbacks Springtime Invite.
KT WOODMAN CLASSIC
There were a couple of personal-bests as well as an NCAA provisional mark reached by the Bison in Wichita.
During the discus throw,
Zavier Freeman PR'd with a throw of 44.04. That slotted the freshman in 19th place as well. There was another PR during the hammer throw. Dalton Deweese claimed 14th place with a throw of 46.46 meters.
Also during the hammer throw,
Matthew Werschem earned the Bison's best overall finish, earning eighth with a throw of 52.20m.
As for the qualifying NCAA effort,
Evan Olson did that in the javelin throw, reaching 64.47m.
Among the other top finishes for the green and gold, Freeman earned sixth in the shot put (15.68m) while teammates
Karson Holsapple and
Elijah Wood were slotted 12th and 13th, respectively.
Furthermore, Hudson Cunningham completed the 3,000 steeplechase in 21st place (9:54.69) while
Michael Parker earned 24th in the 1,500 (4:00.04).
ARKANSAS SPRINGTIME INVITE
Carson Kardokus,
Isaiah Willis and
Jentezen Smith all had standout showings in Fayetteville on Saturday.
For Kardokus, he earned a first-place mark in the 800 with a PR of 1:52.85. During the long jump, Willis garnered runner-up accolades when he jumped an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark of 7.45m.
Lastly, Smith took fourth in the 400 hurdles with another NCAA standard of 52.83.
In relay competition,
Sean Dixon,
Jared Cheatwood, Smith and Willis earned seventh in the 4x400 with a time of 3:14.86.
Also of note, Cheatwood earned 20th place in the 400-meter run (49.33), while
Austen McQueen completed the 110 hurdles in 14.73, good for 16th.
