Bison Women Deliver Standout Effort at OBU Invite

SHAWNEE – There were 10, first-place finishes, numerous personal bests and several NCAA Provisional marks attained by the Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team over the weekend during its annual home invitational.

Among the highlights, Jamora Horace earned top honors in the high jump when she reached 1.77m (5-9.75). That met NCAA standards and was a personal-best mark. During the 200-meter run, Asia Foster also PR'd and attained a provisional total crossing the finish line in first (23.77). Plus, teammate Delaney Riekert also notched a personal best in the 200 (24.77).

The Bison's 4x100 relay team of Foster, Riekert, Deja Rose and Olivia Tate also met NCAA standards with a first-place finish in that race (46.24). And during the 4x400, Riekert, Tate, Foster and Mary McKey took first with a time of 3:53.59.

In other running events, Kimberly McKinney was the top performer in the 800 with a time 2:14.92. Teammates Shayna Hendrix and Zoee Weaver followed in second and third, respectively. Also of note, Bella Driver, Kyndall Hicks and Savanna Meek went first through third in the 100 hurdles all with personal-best times.

Plus, in the 400 hurdles event, McKey, Weaver and Meek earned first-, second-, and third-place honors, respectively. Meek's time of 1:05.25 was a PR too.

During field events, Altyn Bartley took first in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 44-9.50. Jade Byrd added event victories in the discus (46.42m) and hammer throw (53.56m) with both of those performances meeting NCAA standards.

Rounding out OBU's top efforts, Anisha Henderson took runner-up honors in the long jump with an NCAA mark of 6.01m (19-8.75) while Bartley earned the same placement in the hammer throw, reaching a personal best 50.12m.

Lastly, Weaver took third in the javelin throw with a PR of 35.53m (116-7.0) and she PR'd in the 1,500 with a time of 5:09.05. Furthermore, McKinney earned third in the 400 meters (57.67) while Tate took bronze honors in the 200 (24.89).

Next week, the Bison will head to Oklahoma's John Jacobs Invitational on April 4.
