Olson Breaks OBU’s Outdoor Heptathlon Record

AUSTIN, Texas – Valerie Olson broke Oklahoma Baptist's 10-year-old outdoor heptathlon record on Thursday during the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

A decade ago, former student-athlete Elizabeth Dadzie tallied 5,146 points during the March 2015 OBU Open.

Over the last two days in Austin, Olson registered 5,428 points which also slotted her in third place overall. Also of note, to gage the competition during this event, the second-place honoree, Cincinnati Bearcats (D1) athlete Juliette Laracuente-Huebner was the Big 12 champion in multis indoor.

During Thursday's competitions, Olson competed in the long jump, javelin throw and 800 meters.

She finished in second place in the 800 (2:17.38), fourth in the javelin (35.04m) and eighth in the long jump (5.36m).
