Olson Has Strong Start at the Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas – Valerie Olson of the Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team got off on the right foot during the heptathlon event during Wednesday's Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.

Over the course of four events, Olson won the shot put and 200-meter race while claiming eighth place in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump.

With those results, she currently sits in third place overall with 3,337 points.

During the hurdles event, Olson set a personal-best crossing the finish line in 14.21. She then reached 1.59 meters in the high jump.

Olson then claimed top honors in the shot put and 200 with two more PRs. She reached 12.60m in the shot put before posting a time of 24.19 in the 200.

Tomorrow, she'll finish off with the long jump, javelin throw and 800 beginning at 10:15 a.m.
