COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Oklahoma Baptist's 4x400 relay team of
Sean Dixon,
Jentezen Smith,
Jared Cheatwood and
Isaiah Willis was the only NCAA D2 squad to make the finals of that event during Saturday's Charlie Thomas Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
That group of Bison men's track and field performers delivered a sixth-place mark of 3:15.09 which met NCAA provisional standards.
OBU also saw Willis notch another provisional mark in the long jump when he leaped 7.30m (23-11.5). That slotted the senior in eighth place too.
Maxamillian Wheeler turned in the Bison's next-highest finish. With a time of 4:12.50, the senior claimed 11th place in the mile run.
Furthermore, Dixon notched a 400-meter finish of 48.61, good for 24th, while
Carson Kardokus crossed the finish line of the 800 in 1:54.58. That total slotted the Edmond, Okla., native in 25th.
Next weekend, OBU will take part in Pitt State's Gorilla Classic and Washburn's Ichabod Invitational between Feb. 14-15.
