RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Jamora Horace and
Sophia Strange of the Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team were named Great American Conference Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
For each, it's their second awards of the season.
During Pitt State's Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic, Horace, a junior from Fort Worth, Texas, earned runner-up honors in the high jump competition reaching 1.75 meters (5-8.75). That was a DII provisional mark for Horace and the eighth-best jump in the nation.
Strange, a senior from Houston, won the 3,000 with a time of 9:38.16. That performance was not only a meet record, but it met NCAA provisional standards and represents the 25th-best performance of the season.
