Conference leader Harding deals Bison second loss of conference action

SEARCY, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist falls to Harding with a hard-fought battle adding a loss to the green and gold's record. 

OBU Women's Basketball fought an uphill battle against Harding, the conference leader, ending with a 73-62 total for the home team. 

The Bison opened up the game taking the first two points, but the OBU lead didn't last long, as Harding lead the remainder of the 40-minute fight. 

In the opening frame, Harding totaled 23 points to OBU's six points, but the next two quarters saw the green and gold outscore the home team with 15 points in the second quarter and 21 in the third stanza. The final quarter saw 20 points from each team but the low scoring opening quarter ultimately did Oklahoma Baptist in, closing out the score at 73-62. 

OBU totaled 33 bench points, six blocks and five steals. The Bison went 22-53 from the field, 6-19 from the three and 12-13 from the line. 

Mackenzie Crusoe took the lead with 13 points on the afternoon going 4-11 from the field and 5-6 from the line. Crusoe tallied one block, one steal, three assists and five rebounds for OBU. 

Katelyn Davis had another good outing with 11 points, going 3-8 from the field, 3-5 from the three and perfect from the charity stripe. 

Sierra Copeland led the defensive efforts for the Bison with eight rebounds and one block. 

Jill Leslie also played a big role for the Bison going 4-6 from the field, 1-3 from the three, contributing nine points for OBU, and totaled seven rebounds and two blocks. 

Allie Rehl also had a good run against Harding, leading the Bison with five assists. Rehl added eight points at 2-9 from the field, and a perfect 4-4 from the line. 

Next up, the green and gold will return to Noble Complex for a meeting with Ouachita Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 16.
