Miller Joins Bison Softball Staff

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist head coach Jace Brewer announced the hiring of Jason Miller as an assistant coach in the OBU softball program on Monday.

Miller joins the Bison staff after nine years as the assistant softball coach and recruiting coordinator at NJCAA powerhouse Grayson College in Denison, Texas. Overall, Miller brings 17 years of coaching experience and knowledge to the program.

"It feels like God has opened the perfect door," Miller said. "I want to raise the ceiling of this program while using it as a ministry of Christ. I am excited for the opportunity to coach, but more so looking forward to creating relationships with every member of the team."

During his tenure with the Vikings, the club made two NJCAA World Series appearances, racked up nearly 300 wins, and saw eight athletes earn All-America honors. Grayson went from a 53-76 record through his first four seasons to a 104-24 mark the last four years.

Miller was also named the 2023 Easton/NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year after the squad's World Series run.

Miller made a few stops before landing at Grayson, most recently at Western Oklahoma State College as the assistant softball coach and retention specialist in 2014. A year prior, he took his first college head coaching position at Ranger College (Ranger, TX) before his first stint at Western Oklahoma from 2011-2013.

Miller's other positions were at Bethany High School as an assistant baseball/softball coach and Mercer University as a volunteer assistant baseball coach. Miller also spent one season at Mid-America Christian University as a member of the baseball team in 2006, where he eventually began coaching.

Originally from Wayne, Okla., he completed a master's degree in sports administration from East Central in 2014 before earning a bachelor's in general studies from Central Oklahoma in 2009.

"Jason is a game-changing hire for OBU softball," Brewer said. "He is one of the best recruiters in the game and will be a great developer of our players' talents. His wealth of knowledge will help us as we aim to remain relevant on the national level year in and year out. We are blessed to make Jason a part of the OBU softball family."
