WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Rising redshirt junior
Jill Leslie, a member of the Oklahoma Baptist volleyball program, was named a finalist for Next Level Athlete of the Year honor as a part of the 2024 Texoma's Nexstar Sports Awards.
Leslie, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker for the Bison, is one of three finalists. The others are Trinity University quarterback Tucker Horn and Shay Williams, a member of the softball program at University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
Started in 2019 by KFDX, an NBC affiliate in Wichita Falls, the Next Level Athlete of the Year award allows KFDX to recognize athletes who've left the Texoma area to play collegiately or professionally.
Last season, Leslie was a key figure for a team that won a share of the Great American Conference regular-season title, the GAC Tournament and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Along the way, Leslie became just the second Bison player in the D2 era to earn All-America honors, was named the GAC Tournament MVP and she broke her previous school record with a .339 attack mark.
