ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's track and field team turned in three NCAA DII Provisionals at Cowley College's Mark Phillips Open on Saturday.
Alexander Schovanec finished fourth in the discus with the nation's 12th-best heave of 50.89m (166-11), while Elijah Wood's 40.19m (131-10) placed ninth.
The duo also earned top-five finishes in the shot put. Schovanec collected second place with a throw of 15.70m (51-6.25), while Wood claimed fourth with a personal best mark of 14.79m (48-6.25).
Matthew Higdon took second and registered a provisional in the hammer throw with the 13th-furthest heave in DII. Schovanec and freshman Matthew Werschem followed in 12th (45.70m, 149-11) and 13th (43.98m, 144-3), respectively.
Evan Olson recorded a second-place finish in the javelin after a personal-best mark of 61.34m (201-3). The throw earned a provisional and ranks as the 15th-best heave in the country.
Olson topped his previous PR of 60.70m (199-2), earned while competing at Corban University.
