SHAWNEE – Saturday morning saw the Bison Men's and Women's teams place in the top five at the 2024 GAC Cross Country Championship.
Sophia Strange made GAC history Saturday morning after taking first place in the Women's 5k race. The 18:22.4 finish earned Strange the honor of being the first GAC woman to achieve three consecutive individual championship titles.
The OBU Women's Cross Country team placed fourth out of 12 teams.
Jade Robinson placed 20
th to be the second Bison across for the women's team with a 19:31.8 time.
Kaylen King was next across for the green and gold, placing 25
th, recording a time of 19:38.2.
McKayla Schmitt placed 30
th with a 19:57.9 finish.
Kieran Paxton came across at the 20:02.4 mark, taking 32
nd place. In 43
rd place was
Jadyn Pavlik with a time of 20:13.5.
Lauren Crouch finished 54
th at 20:42.2.
Zoe Strange recorded a time of 21:03.9 to place 63
rd.
Shayna Hendrix came in 71
st at 21:23.0 and
Kiara Smith finished at 22:46.4, taking 99
th out of 144 runners.
Maxamillian Wheeler finished second in the Men's 8k, making him the first OBU man across, recording a time of 25:00.0. The Men's team placed third out of eight teams with four top 20 finishes.
Emery Crayton claimed ninth place with a time of 25:24.1.
Carson Kardokus came in 13
th, recording a 25:59.6 finish.
Ethan Banks took 18
th place at 26:36.6.
Jaden Redmond placed 23
rd with a time of 26:50.2.
Josh Kearse finished 29
th at 27:01.3,
Michael Parker recorded a time of 27:14.5 to place 36
th.
Hudson Cunningham finished 46
th with a time of 27:52.2.
James Williams placed 53
rd with a 28:03.6 finish.
Kasen Taylor slated a 29:46.4 time for 83
rd place out of 120 runners.
