SHAWNEE – The Great American Conference announced its 2024-25 men's basketball preseason voting ballot and Oklahoma Baptist received some high praise.
OBU was picked to finish second and received a trio of first-place votes. Arkansas Tech, who shared last year's regular-season title before winning the conference tourney, was picked to finish in first. The Wonder Boys received seven 1st-place votes.
"We remain committed to pursuing championships and NCAA Tournaments and this season will be no different," Head Coach
Jason Eaker said.
"We believe that retaining and returning 11 of our players from last year's team should be a competitive advantage for us but that's why we play the games. We do know how much we love, respect, and admire last year's team for who they are and what they gave and we are anticipating similar feelings from this group," Eaker added.
Speaking of returning players, the Bison have several key athletes back on campus. Last year's GAC Freshman of the Year,
Terry Coner Jr., returns. He scored 15.8 points per game last season en route to postseason honors. Plus, three-point specialist and All-GAC Honorable Mention selection
Ricky Brown is back for the green and gold.
Furthermore, there are several others that saw ample playing time last year. That includes
Daniel Ransom,
Nathan Wilson,
Joshua Udoumoh and
Efe Sekeroglu.
The Bison's first game is Nov. 8 at Minnesota Crookston.
