Avery Hellmuth became the first OBU student-athlete to be elected on to the NCAA DII Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board earlier this month.
The DII SAAC Executive Board helps prepare the agenda for meetings and guides the rest of DII SAAC through each meeting.
Hellmuth was nominated and elected for the Internal Operations Coordinator position which includes chairing the Nomination Subcommittee which elects new SAAC members. Hellmuth will also chair the Honors, Awards, and Recognition Subcommittee, which selects the winner of our annual Faculty Mentor Award. Lastly, she will oversee the onboarding process for new members and assign mentors for them.
"I'm deeply thankful for the opportunity to serve in this role and continue to enhance the voices of over 120,000 Division II student-athletes. I can't wait to get to work," Hellmuth said.
Hellmuth has served as President of the OBU SAAC team since May of 2022 and the Great American Conference SAAC President since October of 2022.
