COLLEGE STATION, Texas – For the second straight meet, senior Maxamillian Wheeler placed highest for the Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country team, leading OBU to an eighth-place finish at the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday.
Among a plethora of Division I talent, Wheeler crossed the finish line in 15th at 24:39.0 to record a personal best time in the 8k event.
OBU recorded the best finish of all participating Division II teams and beat out DI programs in Sam Houston, Dallas Baptist, and Texas A&M Commerce.
Registering the second-best finish for the Bison was freshman Rogers Kiplagat, who crossed in 25:11.1 for 30th. Emery Crayton finished just outside the top 50, claiming 53rd with a time of 25:35.6.
James Williams and Carson Kardokus trailed in 63rd (25:49.6) and 67th (25:52.8), while Josh Kearse finished 86th (26.17.8).
Rounding out the Bison's runners were Ethan Banks (100th, 26:58.2), Michael Parker (113th, 27:23.9), Jaden Redmond (120th, 27.50.1), Peter Turner (125th, 28:13.1), and Landon Boddy (132th, 30:06.2).
The squad will return to the course for the DBU Old Glory Gallop on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Dallas, Texas.
