SHAWNEE – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced its All-Central Region Team on Wednesday and Oklahoma Baptist's
Dan Pruitt and
Alex Schroeder were honored.
At first base, Pruitt garnered honorable mention accolades while Schroeder earned a spot on the first team at designated hitter. It marks that second straight year that both players made this list. Pruitt was an All-Region Second Team selection in 2022 while Schroeder earned first-team honors.
Both Pruitt and Schroeder were instrumental in helping the Bison post 32 wins while advancing to the GAC Tournament Championship Game for the third time.
Pruitt, like Schroeder, was one of three players to start all 55 games for OBU. He dialed up a team-high .380 batting average, a .793 slugging mark, 21 homers, 72 RBI and 74 runs scored. The Oklahoma City native also added six triples and 79 hits. All of those totals ranked top-six in the Great American Conference while his home run and RBI total were slotted no worse than 11th in D2. At one point during the year, Pruitt had an incredible 26-game hitting streak going.
By season's end, Pruitt racked up 45 career homers, 11 three-baggers and 140 runs batted in. The first pair of those statistics rank second all-time in OBU history while his RBI total is tied for eighth.
As for Schroeder, who moves on to All-America consideration for being on the first team, the Rocklin, Calif., native led the GAC and ranked tied for fourth in the nation with 23 homers. He was third in the conference in slugging (.719) and fifth with 66 RBI. Plus, Schroeder led the Bison with 14 doubles. With another year left on Bison Hill, he ranks third all-time with 44 bombs, just two away from tying Josh Collazo's (2008-09) total of 46.
