SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist wrapped a long weekend of competition on Saturday at the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Texas State's Bobcat Invitational.
The relay squad of Jax Holland, Jentezen Smith, Marcus Petersen, and Isaiah Willis kicked off the action with a fifth-place finish of 3:13.09 in the 4x400. The quartet won claimed top honors in their heat en route to the NCAA DII qualifying mark.
In the 4x100 relay, Jai Moore, Smith, Petersen, and Willis finished 23rd with a time of 42.17.
Turning to the Bobcat Invitational, the 4x100 relay squad of Sanders, Smith, Petersen, and Willis placed 13th after crossing the finish line in a season-best time of 41.91.
Junior Alexander Schovanec earned a ninth-place finish in the shot put with a season-best heave of 14.88m (48-9.75), ahead of Elijah Wood's 13.56m (44-5.75) throw that placed 16th.
In the high jump, freshmen Trey Bartholomew and Jonathan Elix finished 21st with matching clearances of 1.97m (6-5.5).
Rounding out the notables was Matt Higdon's 56.34m (184-10) hurl that placed 21st in the hammer throw.
Oklahoma Baptist returns to competition on Thursday, April 6, at Wichita State's KT Woodman Classic.
