Bison Aiming for Sixth Straight Win at ECU

As of this posting, GAC statistics had not yet been updated.

SHAWNEE – Winners of five straight, Oklahoma Baptist (12-8) will head to East Central (5-18) on Tuesday for a non-conference affair. OBU has won 22 straight in the series against ECU dating back to April 13, 2017. Last season, the Bison scored an incredible 83 runs in four contests against the Tigers.

Over the weekend, the Bison were overly impressive against Southeastern Oklahoma State, winning all three GAC games by a combined 30-9 score. There were numerous, positive takeaways from both OBU pitching and offense.

The green and gold's staff posted a team ERA of 2.35 and notched 30 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched while limiting a good Savage Storm offense to .221 batting and just four extra-base hits. Ryan Turbeville led the way with eight strikeouts while Jordan Brewer and Brek Galbreath tallied seven apiece. Plus, newcomer Logan Kimbro notched his first career save.

In the batter's box, the Bison were even more impressive. OBU hit .388 with 14 extra-base hits which included seven homers. There were seven 2-out RBI, a 4-for-5 performance with bases loaded and an 11-for-25 clip with runners in scoring position. Kade Self, Isiah Lissade and Dan Pruitt each homered twice as well.

That should bode well for the Bison's game tomorrow at East Central. The Tigers have lost seven straight and have given up an average of 11.4 runs per game in that span. Most recently, ECU was defeated 19-3 by Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford on March 11.

The Tigers' team ERA of 10.46 is last in the Great American Conference and ranks 234 out of 248 NCAA D2 schools. Opponents have hit .358 this season off ECU pitching.

Offensively, Nolan Herchock leads the Tigers with a .338 batting average. He has tallied seven doubles, three triples and two homers to go along with 14 runs batted in. Additionally, Dawerlyn Amancio has team-highs in doubles (9) and RBI (19) while Duncan Key has driven in 18.
