VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Sophomore Isaiah Willis leaped into history today as he became the first Bison in the Division II era to claim First-Team All-American honors in a field event at the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Championships.
Willis placed seventh in a stacked field with a mark of 7.29m (23'-11"). Of six attempts, Willis cleared 7.20m (23'-6") twice, a feat he'd reached two times before today.
The Shawnee, Okla. native came into Friday with the ninth furthest leap in the nation at 7.52m (24'-8.25").
Freshman Trey Bartholomew, the other Bison who qualified for the national event, will compete in the men's high jump at 4:05 p.m. (CT).
