RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist's
Maci Langford was named the Great American Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The honor, her fifth of her career, stems from her efforts last week against Southwestern Oklahoma State, Harding and Arkansas Tech.
Historically, only one OBU player, program great Malia Leatherland, has more GAC POTW honors (7) than Langford.
Last week, Langford dialed up 65 digs in 11 sets played. That averaged out to 5.91 per set. The Arlington, Texas native tallied 26 digs against SWOSU, 12 at Harding and 27 versus ATU. OBU went 2-1 in the record column in the process.
With those numbers, Langford catapulted from fifth in the GAC to first in digs per set (4.71). That total is also a top-50 mark in the NCAA.
Langford and the Bison will return to action on Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. when they host Southern Arkansas.
