RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Four Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country runners earned All-GAC accolades after helping the team to a second-place Great American Conference Championship finish on Saturday morning at the Arkansas Tech Cross Country Course.
Maxamillian Wheeler once again was the Bison's top runner. He finished in sixth, earned his third straight All-GAC First Team certificate, and finished with a time of 24:26.8.
OBU's other conference first-teamer was
Emery Crayton. The freshman dialed up at 10th-place finish in 25:17.9. Crayton was also named GAC Newcomer of the Year for his efforts.
Two more joined the all-conference ranks for the Bison:
Carson Kardokus and
James Williams. Both were named to the second team. For Kardokus, he crossed the finish line in 14th place (25:26.9) while Williams was one spot after (25:30.7) in a personal-best time.
The Bison's fifth and final point-scorer was
Rogers Kiplagat. The freshman registered a time of 26:17.6 which positioned him in 34th. Also of note,
Ethan Banks and
Peter Turner competed and earned 37th- and 60th-place finishes.
East Central ended up winning the team crown with 15 points, marking the second straight year it was atop the GAC.
Next on the schedule is the NCAA Central Regional Championships set to begin Nov. 4 in Joplin, Missouri.
