Leslie Selected for Another GAC Honor

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the second time this season, Oklahoma Baptist redshirt sophomore Jill Leslie was named Great American Conference Player of the Week. This time, she was picked as the offensive honoree after previously being chosen as defensive player of the week on Oct. 2.

Of note, Leslie is the first Bison player since the program joined the GAC in 2015 to earn an offensive and defensive player of the week award in the same season.

Last week, Leslie went on a tear from her middle blocker position. In victories against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello, the Wichita Falls, Texas native hit .583 with 24 kills. She had just three errors in 24 swings too.

Against SAU, Leslie tied her career-high with 15 kills. At one point, she was hitting at a school-record pace of .789. By the end, she finished with a more than outstanding .500 attack percentage.

Then in the week's finale against UAM, Leslie posted nine kills, no errors and a .750 attack mark.

With those performances, she moved back into first place in the GAC with a .370 hitting percentage. Leslie also slid into ninth in points (3.12). Furthermore, her attack mark slotted her 30th out of 300 players in NCAA Division II.

Leslie and OBU will return to action on Oct. 19 at Ouachita.
