Baker Earns GAC Player of the Week Honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Redshirt senior linebacker Scooter Baker picked up his second GAC Player of the Week award for his efforts in Saturday's win over Southwestern Oklahoma State, the league announced on Monday.

Baker was named the conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week alongside Harding's Nathaniel Wallace. It is Baker's third time to earn the league's weekly honor in his career.

Baker registered nine tackles, 2.0 sacks, and 3.0 tackles-for-loss to lead a Bison defense that held Southwestern to 75 yards on the ground. It was Baker's career-high for sacks in a game and the second time he has reached 3.0 tackles behind the line of scrimmage this season.

It was the Jacksonville, Texas, product's fourth time reaching nine or more tackles, the most of anyone on the team. He currently ranks third in the GAC and 11th in the country for tackles (66), and is the only tackler ranked in the top five for stops in the conference with 4.0 sacks.

Baker's number of sacks rank ninth on the GAC leaderboard, while his 7.5 tackles-for-loss are 12th.

After two games away from home, Oklahoma Baptist returns to Crain Family Stadium to host GAC foe Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. Kickoff between the Bison and Rangers is scheduled for 7 p.m.
