Langford, Frierson Earn Weekly GAC Accolades

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist juniors Maci Langford and D'Erricka Frierson were selected as Great American Conference Players of the Week on Monday after directing OBU to a perfect 3-0 record last week.
 
For Langford, it is her second weekly defensive honor while Frierson earned her first career offensive award.  
 
During wins over Southwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State, Langford accumulated 64 digs, a team-high. She secured 5.82 per set and helped lead a Bison defense that limited the three opponents to a .175 attack percentage. Her best performance came against SWOSU when she totaled 31 digs, her second-best mark of the year.
 
Langford's efforts kept her in fourth place in the GAC in digs (4.91) as well.
 
As for Frierson, she rang up 48 kills, a 4.36 per-set average and attack mark of .296. She was also solid defensively registering 39 digs (3.55). The 5-foot-10 outside hitter had two double-doubles in the three contests with her best performance coming against SNU with 18 kills and 15 digs.
 
Frierson also hit .342 against the Crimson Storm, a season-high.
 
OBU returns to the court on Sept. 29 when it hosts Henderson State at 6 p.m.
