JOPLIN, Mo. - Saturday, Sept.17, the Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country team jump-started their 2022 season with a 12th-place finish during the men's university/open 8k run at the Missouri Southern Stampede.
The Bison raced against some stiff competition including the University of Arkansas, Pittsburg State, East Central and Missouri Southern State, who is ranked No. 2 in the NCAA DII cross country Central Region rankings.
Junior
Maxamillian Wheeler finished at the top for the Bison with a time of 25:31.23. That was good for 27th place.
Following Wheeler was sophomore
Carson Kardokus (26:27.70, 75th) and senior
Parker Ables (26:46.57, 95th). With these efforts, the Bison had three finishers in the top 100 and an average time of 26:01.83 amongst the three.
The Bison placed 12th in the overall by meet's end with a point total of 362.
Next on the agenda for the Bison is a race at the Chile Pepper Festival Friday, Sept. 30 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
