NORMAN, Okla. – The Oklahoma men's and women's track and field teams turned in 10 top-10 finishes and met four NCAA Division II Provisional marks at the John Jacobs Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Alexander Schovanec and Matthew Higdon claimed fourth place in the discus and hammer throw, good for NCAA Division II provisional marks. Schovanec's and Higdon's marks were PRs, throwing 168-4 (51.30) and 196-9 (59.97).
Furthermore, Hidgon's heave ranks 16th in the nation while Schovanec's is 24th.
Isaiah Willis finished fifth in the long jump to round out the men's field notables. Willis' jump of 23-2.5 (7.07) was a PR and a team-best this season.
The 4x100 relay team of Mahcoe Smith, Jax Holland, Brendan Sanders, and Shirvante Knauls took third in 40.81, their second-fastest time of the outdoor season. This registers the second NCAA provisional mark in the event for the squad, with the first coming at the OBU Invite (40.69).
In the women's action, Jade Byrd claimed sixth in the discus after a 153-2 (46.69) throw. The mark is a PR and is the 18th-best throw in Division II.
Caitlin Mannon also earned a top-10 finish in her field event, placing ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 164-6 (50.15).
Rounding out the notables were Tahlor Brown's and Isabella Lotz's top-10 finishes in the 100m hurdles. Brown claimed seventh in 14.72 while Lotz followed in eighth at 14.73.
