HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Great American Conference league office announced sophomore Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch as an All-GAC Honorable Mention selection and senior Josie Patterson as an Elite Scholar-Athlete at the league's banquet on Saturday afternoon.
The honor is the first of Nunez-Butzonitch's career, as she is coming off a great 2021-22 season.
Following an outstanding performance at the OBU Invitational in the fall, Nunez-Butzonitch earned GAC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. She claimed first place at the event after beating out a single opponent in a playoff after the two tied at the conclusion of the 18th hole. Nunez-Butzonitch shot a career-low 73 (+1) in the first round to lock up a top spot early in the competition.
Patterson was one of three athletes named an Elite Scholar, meeting the criteria of a 4.00 GPA with over 70 hours completed. This is the first Elite Scholar nod of her career.
